1 Million Tickets Sold: A Look into Adelaide Fringe’s 2024 Impact Report
Last week, the Impact Celebration hosted by Adelaide Fringe at kwpx was a resounding success, marking the second time we have rolled out the pink carpet for this event, and it was nothing short of spectacular! The evening highlighted the significant contributions and achievements of Adelaide Fringe, made possible through the unwavering support of their partners.
Heather Croall, CEO and Artistic Director of Adelaide Fringe, along with David O’Loughlin, our very own CEO and Chair, delivered inspiring speeches that underscored the festival’s impact on the community and the arts sector. Their addresses set the tone for a night of celebration, gratitude, and recognition of the collective efforts that make Adelaide Fringe a vibrant and inclusive festival in our great state.
The Impact Report unveiled during the event showcased impressive stats that reflect the festival’s broad reach and influence. In 2024, Adelaide Fringe generated an astounding $149 million in total expenditure for South Australia and created 13,553 direct and indirect jobs. The festival saw a remarkable 1 million tickets sold (for a second year) and attracted 5 million attendances, demonstrating its significant cultural and economic footprint.
One of the standout highlights was the reported impacts on mental health and social connectivity, with 94% of SA survey respondents indicating that attending the Fringe in 2024 had positive or very positive impacts, with an additional 93% of respondents affirming the cultural importance of the Fringe.
Accessibility was a key focus of the 2024 Adelaide Fringe. The festival issued 3,809 Companion Card tickets and distributed 3,000 access guides, making it easier for individuals with disabilities to participate in the event. There were also 147 shows with specific access provisions and 139 shows from creatives with lived experiences of disability.
For kwpx, Adelaide Fringe is a cherished integrated client and a partner we are exceptionally proud to support. Their commitment to fostering creativity, community, and cultural exchange aligns with our values, making this collaboration particularly meaningful to us. The success and growth of Adelaide Fringe are a testament to the power of the arts in bringing people together, and we are honoured to contribute to their continued impact.
A big thank you to all attendees and partners who continue to support Adelaide Fringe, making it the largest arts festival in the Southern Hemisphere. The night was a testament to the power of collaboration and the transformative impact of the arts on society.
