Trust your gut with Kellie Finlayson

In April 2023, Jodi Lee Foundation announced their newest ambassador, Kellie Finlayson. Kellie was 25 when she was diagnosed with bowel cancer.

The Challenge

Kellie is on a mission to spread awareness for the early detection and prevention of bowel cancer; Australia’s leading cancer killer in 25–34-year-olds. If detected early, up to 99% of cases can be treated.

We knew we had to share Kellie’s story in a way that would not only move people, but inspire action. As an extension of the “Trust Your Gut” campaign, we invited the Jodi Lee Foundation team and Kellie into our office for an interview around her journey and her goals for being a Jodi Lee Foundation Ambassador.

The interview was concepted, produced, filmed, photographed and edited all in house, with thanks to Kellie and The Models talent agency.

The final film is an insightful and moving conversation and importantly draws awareness to the symptoms of bowel cancer. And as well as awareness, it encourages people to seek advice from their GP if they experience any symptoms.

The Symptom Checker

With a high recovery rate when detected early, Jodi Lee Foundation were focussed on not only spreading awareness but driving people to take action when it comes to their health and symptoms of bowel cancer.

Knowing people can often be hesitant to speak to their GP, we worked closely with the Jodi Lee Foundation team to design and develop a user-friendly, completely online, interactive Symptom Checker tool. The Symptom Checker guides the user through a series of questions, while providing helpful advice and information,

and flagging if you should speak to your GP. The tool is easy to use and gives people a quick and simple way to take the first step when it comes to assessing their symptoms.

This was an incredibly important project and we were proud to be a part of both the video and the digital side. The interview was created entirely by our in-house team, while our digital department managed the development of the interactive, online Symptom Checker.

The Results

The campaign launched on 15 June and we are already seeing some amazing results. The interview has received some great feedback and, importantly the website saw 7000 visits and 3000 uses of the Symptom Checker in just the first 12 hours.

We’re really looking forward to seeing this campaign continue to grow and the numbers continue to climb.
